OLTL alum shines in stellar Super Bowl ad

Former One Life to Live star Mark Lawson (ex-Brody Lovett) was the star of an out of this world Audi commercial that aired during Super Bowl 50.

Everyone's talking about Super Bowl Sunday, and this year, soap fans have been able to get in on the action.

While many people are dissecting the Denver Bronco's win over the Carolina Panthers and the Coldplay/Beyoncé/Bruno Mars halftime show, daytime audiences are buzzing over a surprise appearance by One Life to Live alum Mark Lawson (ex-Brody Lovett), who popped up in an Audi commercial that aired during the big game.

The ad, which also features David Bowie's iconic 1972 Ziggy Stardust hit "Starman" shows Lawson as the young version of an astronaut who, after retiring, rediscovers his passion for life after driving his son's Audi R8.

"Surrounded by memories of the Space Age's golden years, a retired astronaut has lost his zeal for life. But when his son shows up and hands over the keys to the new 205-mph Audi R8 V10 plus, a rocket ride under the stars stirs newfound life within the Commander," states the ad's description. "It's a universal reminder that amazing things happen when we choose exploration, technology and the moon."

This isn't the first time that a soap star has stolen the Super Bowl spotlight. In 2011, The Young and the Restless' Max Page starred as a pint-sized Darth Vader in a Volkswagen ad.
